| Born in Ireland of two Irish parents and moved to Africa only to arrive in Canada at 3 years of age, Nigel grew up playing soccer and did at a fairly high level until his knees gave out. Simply, Nigel loves the outdoors and everything to do with nature and beauty. You will most likely find him hiking and swimming in the ocean.Nigel was one of the original Greenpeacers and went on to co-found Victoria’s local recycling center in 1972. He also founded and chaired Earth Day Canada and was worldwide Chairman of Earth Day International in 1991 and 1992. Nigel is particularly proud of that accomplishment, as it went truly global with a half a billion participants in 141 countries.
He has been a developer-builder and has enjoyed building all sorts of buildings from residential to commercial, specializing in low energy housing and passive solar structures. Nigel has taken his experience and enjoyed acting as a consultant to a number of major ‘green developments’. And for the for the last 27 years, Nigel has been one of BC’s most trusted Investment Advisors, specializing in Socially Responsible Investing. Along with his role with Rain City, Nigel is presently working as a Director of Foster Health Inc., founded by the late Dr. Harold D Foster. Utilizing principals of Medical Geography, Foster’s exploration of this relationship lead to major breakthroughs in how to address metabolic deficiencies and their causes that are responsible for the progression of many diseases. Dr. Foster has successfully reduced the effects of AIDS in patients at the Mengo Hospital in Uganda by significantly raising their CD4 counts through administering specially designed nutraceuticals. |
