David Isaac (Wugadusk) is a Mi’kmaq originally from Listuguj, Quebec and raised in Vancouver. While studying towards a degree in premedicine at UVic, he developed a strong interest in environmental studies and sustainability. David acknowledges the discernable overlap between health and the environment and applies this understanding towards the holistic approach he takes in business. 

He promotes the development of Aboriginal business opportunities in BC’s burgeoning environmental and clean-tech industries. His work for EarthFirst Canada as business development manager, gave him valuable insight into the wind industry here in Canada. While at EarthFirst, he was involved in the commercial wind turbine development project at Dokie Ridge (first constructed in BC).

Some of his previous employers/contracts include BC Hydro Customer Care and Conservation, British Columbia Institute of Technology- School of Construction and the Environment, National Centre for First Nations Governance, Pacific Green Climate Solutions, British Columbia Transmission Corporation and served on the BC Hydro Conservation Potential Review, 2007 External Review Panel.

David has also served as the Deputy Executive Director for the Vancouver Native Health Society.

He is currently serving as the Interim Executive Director for the Centre for Native Policy and Research and is a member of the of the Metro Vancouver Aboriginal Executive Council.

In his spare time, David can be found at the ice rink playing goal, or on the water racing sailboats.
